Seoul, Korea, 2 NOVEMBER, 2017, WeWork—the platform for creators that provides the space, community and services to help people make a life, not just a living—announced today that it will open its fifth location in Korea, WeWork Gwanghwamun, at The-K Twin Towers in Gwanghwamun in January 2018 and that it will expand its space at its first location in Seoul, WeWork Gangnam Station.

WeWork Gwanghwamun, located in front of the Gyeongbokgung Palace, has a significant meaning as it is located in the historic and traditional district of Seoul that has long served as the center of business in the city. Also, the location reflects an increasing demand for WeWork community among traditional large enterprises, signifying that more enterprise members will likely be joining as the members of WeWork. The new location, to be located at The-K Twin Towers, will utilize three floors accommodating for more than 900 members. It is close to stations of three subway lines in Seoul, offering immediate access to major business districts in Seoul, such as Gangnam and Yeouido, the outskirts of Seoul and even an international airport.

In addition, WeWork announced the expansion of WeWork Gangnam Station, which has seen increased demand since opening in August, 2016. The ten-floor space in Hongwoo Building, currently accommodating more than 1,000 members, will be expanded to use two more floors of the building, adding more than 170 desks. Such a decision comes from the increasing demand for WeWorkcommunity in an area spanning between Gangnam Station and Teheran Road. WeWork will accelerate its effort to build a bigger community with diversity in the area along with WeWork Samseong Station and WeWork Yeoksam Station, scheduled to open this year.

With the millennial generation starting to be actively engaged in global business network, the world is now watching a macro shift towards a way of work. With its mission ‘to create a world where people work to make a life, not just a living,’ WeWork plays a pivotal role in the shift and humanizes the way people live and work by providing various services and networking events. Recently, it welcomes conventional large companies and global companies operating in Korea, such as Amore Pacific and Microsoft, in addition to startups and SMEs as its new members, drawing attention to its mission.

“WeWork community in Korea is growing rapidly, and such trend will be accelerated as evidenced by the opening of WeWork Gwanghwamun and the expansion of WeWork Gangnam Station,” said Matthew Shampine, General Manager, Korea at WeWork. “We are excited to open a new location in the Gwanghwamun area, which is significant both historically and geographically. We will continue our effort to drive business opportunities in Korea by building a stronger WeWork community
