Sidea, a South Korea based collaboration system which will help users to commercialize their ideas with crowd-sourcing has launched its Beta version today. Users use the website to submit an idea and if it is chosen by the community and Sidea staff, it will be manufactured using crowd-sourcing.
“Many people have ideas about various products & services. But, they often face problems in design, development & manufacturing etc. If they can collaborate, they can use the collective intelligence of the community. So, we are building a collaboration community through our web site” said Jin-yong Kim, Co-founder of the startup. Click here to watch a video on how Sidea works.
The manufacturing process will be managed by the Sidea staff:
Contract with Idea submitter-->Rendering -->Mock-up-->Mold tool making-->Manufacturing -->Sale -->Profit sharing
Initially Sidea will be looking at products like household items, computer peripherals, automobile accessories and office supplies.
Sidea includes a consumer survey module through which they hope to gauge consumer's preferences and help them build customized products.
