beGLOBAL San Francisco 2015 bridging Asia and USA with startup talent
2015년 10월 06일

Each year, beSUCCESS which is Asia’s leading network for startup and technology media, hosts local events both in Korea and USA. Following on from the successful completion of ‘beGLOBAL Seoul 2015’ in May, ‘beGLOBAL San Francisco 2015’ will be held on the 15th October. Hosting these two annual events has created a vital link between Asia and America in discovering startup talent. The upcoming San Francisco event is expected to create instrumental networking opportunities between prominent American investors and talented startups from Asia.

This year, the ‘beGLOBAL San Francisco 2015’ conference will feature prominent Silicon Valley identities representing investment companies and participating as speakers and in the judging panel. The event will provide benefits to both investors and startups.  The event will provide startups an opportunity to showcase their ideas and receive both experience based advice and know-how from leading industry identities.

The event will also provide a meeting opportunity for leading figures from the two cities of Seoul and San Francisco to meet. Gunso Kim, the former Head of Strategic Planning for Seoul City, will meet with Jay Nath, the current CIO for San Francisco. They will discuss the topic of ‘Global Innovation Ecosystem’ and share know-how and experiences with the aim of developing co-operation opportunities between the two cities.

Steve Hoffman a UX.UI expert and co-founder of Founders Space will lead a session on the topic of ‘How to invest in to startups in the Asian market’. Founder Space has helped hundreds of startups establish foundations, raise capital and go global. In this session, Eric Kim of Goodwater Capital, a company with Coupang and Kakao in their investment portfolio; and Christine Tsai co-founder of 500Startups with her extensive global investment experience will share their experiences.

Kevin Laws from leading US startup investment platform, Angelist will share his insight in ‘Change for future angel investments’. And following recent influx of Japanese funds into Silicon Valley venture capitals, the head of DeNA, representative from Yahoo Japan and Yamaha Investment will discuss strategy.

For the afternoon session Uber and Evernote will share the challenges they were confronted with in the Asian market and how they overcame them. This session will be led by Jay Eum from Translink Capital and New York Times tech editor, Pui-Wing Tam.

In fulfilling the aim of linking startups and investors, the event will feature presentations from the top 10 startups. The startups will be judged on technical expertise and potential for the global market. The judging panel will include representation from Crunchbase, Top Tie Capital Partners, XFund, ENIAC Ventures, HAXLR8R, Mayfield Fund, Charles River Ventures and NEA.
