Great News for Tablet / Ultrabook Users. Toshiba Innovates New Low Power Screens
1월 22, 2013

Good news for those out there, like me, are being driven mad by painfully short battery life on mobile devices. Toshiba is due to release screens as early as March 2013 that dramatically reduce power consumption to 30% of their current best model.
After we discussed yesterday how Samsung and LG are becoming increasingly embroiled in legal disputes and how the Korean government is concerned this would take the gas off innovation, Japanese competing display producer, Toshiba Corp, has announced that it will launch a MIPI-DSI to LVDS interface-converter bridge LSI for LCD displays that is suited for use in mobile devices, such as tablet PCs and Ultrabooks.
According to Japan Today the new lineup supports panel resolutions up to WUXGA (1920 x 1200 x 24bit @ 60fps). Samples of the new tech are available now with commercial release scheduled as early as March this year.
The new interface bridge changes the power supply operating voltage of the LVDS operating system from 3.3V to 1.8V, reducing the power consumption of the LSI to 30% that of Toshiba’s current product, a level that can contribute to reduced overall power consumption by products in which it is used.
Great news for tablet and ultrabook users!
