Fiscal Note acquires political analytic application company MyCandidate

On the 10th September, FiscalNote announced its acquisition of Korean political analytic company MyCandidate. FiscalNote provides services of real time legal and policy data analysis. Similarly, the South Korean company MyCandidate specializes in analysis of political candidate campaigns through their developed and services application. This acquisition is expected to boost the access of open legal and government data from Asia through  MyCandidate that tracks and collects information of political campaigns and summarises this data along with related data from the Korean National Electoral Commission. This summarised information allows voters to easily understand the agenda promised by candidates. A new feature in development is expected to provide a tracking of promises made by candidates in the form of related legislation changes monitoring.

As part of the acqusition, key members of MyCandidate have joined FiscalNote’s team. This includes the CEO and founder Rebekah Kang from MyCandidate who will take on the maket development manager. This new role will enable Ms Kang to capitalize on preivious successes with MyCandidate and to develop Fiscal Note’s customer base within Asia.

On the subject of acquisition and its objectives as a startup Ms Kang commented that “After working on political campaigns in South Korea, I realized there was a significant demand to efficiently connect voters and politicians through technology. FiscalNote’s mission to make government data more useful is exactly what I was striving to accomplish in Seoul. It’s great to be joining a successful team with this shared passion, and I’m confident we will deliver great business value to customers and prospects, together.”
