Looncup, a smart menstrual cup will give women a better understanding of your monthly flow. It can be inserted into women's vaginas during period. It can send the data including fluid volume and color and analyze the data by comparing it from previous data.

Looncup is made of silicone with a sensor, battery and Bluetooth antenna. It can be connected through bluetooth to an app on your iPhone, Android or Apple Watch, and can send push notifications indicating how full the cup is, and when you should change it.

There has been some reports estimating a women throw away between 250 and 300 pounds of pads, tampons in her lifetime. This kind of re-usable menstrual cup could be an alternative option for environment.

There are several menstrual cup brands including the Mooncup, Diva Cup and Lunette. The company claims that Looncup is the world's first smart menstrual cup with battery that can last up to six months and can't be replaced or recharged. Looncup only comes in one size so far. The Diva Cup, on the other hand, comes in two sizes.

Now Looncup is on Kickstarter and it raised over $66,930, exceeding its goal of $50,000.

Kate Lee, part of the team told the five women on the team to use menstrual cups for testing the fit and feel. Additional research and development center is in Seoul, South Korea, but the sales and marketing is in San Francisco.

In February 2015 the company raised $900,000 in angel funding, and plans to raise a Series A round after the Kickstarter campaign closes in a month.
