According to a report by the Korea Communications Commission, South Korea's mobile advertising market almost tripled compared in the past 2 years.
In 2011, the market was worth 76.2 billion KRW - in 2012, this figure increased to 216 billion KRW (approx. $198 million USD) with the growing presence of smartphones and high-speed internet and this year, it is expected that this figure will double to approximately 416 million KRW. These figures represent the amount of orders local advertisement agencies received from their clients.
