2013년 01월 30일

Jimmy Lim (CEO of K-Cube Ventures) and Bum-Su Kim (Chairman of Kakao Talk) have invested 500M KRW in a new mobile gaming startup, Dryad January 31 2013. Dryad have not yet got round to setting up a website, such is the speed of their ascent.

Dryad is a very new game developing company established only last May. Their current project is a mobile game which is a unique mix of TCG (Trading Card Game) and RPG (Role Playing Game). It will be released soon.

The team comes from a powerful technology background, such as CEO Young-Jo Seo and Game PD Jeong-Dae Lee who both previously worked for Korean Daum Mobile, a subsidiary of Korean online search Giant, Daum. They both have a strong track record in project delivery and strategic planning, which has clearly helped them power towards attracting investment within nine months. The strategic leadership of the company is also complemented with top-class developer, CTO Seung-Ju Kim, who previously worked in Flow-Games. Add to this mix Art Director Do-Hyung Ban and you get a picture of the caliber of the team behind this rapidly growing project.

Jimmy Lim (CEO of K-Cube Ventures) believes that although “Casual games are mainstream at the moment, soon other genres, like RPG and Sports, will begin to shine.”

His belief in Dryad is their “vast experience and deep understanding.” He believes they can “perfectly optimize the potential of TCG games for mobile.”

CEO of Dryad Young-Jo Seo said “It’s an honor to join the K-Cube Ventures Family and a great opportunity to share my ideas with a great game developer like Neptune (Pro Baseball game from Nexon), and Fincon (Helo Hero)

At the moment, all popular TCG games are made in Japan. Now K-Cube Ventures is determined to show the market a different, Korean Style of TCG game.

K-Cube Ventures has been busy in the last year, investing in a total of ten startups, so far.
