DearMissJ, an eCommerce startup marketing accessories and handmade product by Korean designers into the North American market has secured an early development investment from Sazze Partners from Silicon Valley and Primer. Following their start in 2014, they were quickly brought to the spotlight through Instagram of famous celebrities and North American fashion blogs. The platform has experienced continues growth in revenue with monthly subscribers often doubling.
Kristy Kim from DearMissJ commented on their success as, “The North American market is reacting well to the recent Korean fashion and beauty business trend that has been popular overseas for the last few years”. She added, “There are many talented designers in Korea who are not yet well known; our aim is to be companion in their growth”.
DearMissJ does not exclusively market online but instead supports the online channel with other offline and online activities including online home shopping, pop-up stores and operate various groups with the aim of better understanding customers. In particular, the company has planned their ‘Holiday Pop Up’ in San Francisco on the 4th December. The event will be attended by customer and fashion editors who will be showcases works of many Korean designers.
