The Drapers, one of the most exiting families in venture capital, will join moderator John Nahm from Strong Ventures on stage at beGLOBAL, in a 30 minute panel. The panel, which comprises the vintage business man Bill Draper, “the creator of viral marketing,” Tim Draper and up-and-coming VC Adam Draper, will analyze their global success and discuss the future of global tech investing.
Over the course of a half-century, the Draper clan has built themselves a name (and a fortune) in a place where ancestry is thought to be irrelevant. Between them, the Drapers have funded many of the biggest tech successes — and hundreds of failures, they freely admit. Within the Draper portfolio have been Tesla Motors, Linear Technologies, Hotmail, Skype, Open Table, LSI Logic and more recently, Path, Airtime and Adam Draper’s currently subpoenaed BitCoin startup accelerator Boost VC for their role in the crypto currency economy. They also sit on countless boards of directors, giving them an unprecedented presence and knowledge in The Valley’s startup ecosystem. It is our pleasure to welcome The Drapers to beGLOBAL on the 13th of September at Four Seasons Palo Alto. Tickets (Super Early Bird tickets still available!) can be bought at Eventbrite.
More about the Drapers: The Draper VC dynasty began with General William Draper's founding of Draper, Gaither & Anderson in 1958. His son Bill started the Draper & Johnson Investment Co. (1962), followed by Sutter Hill Ventures (1965). Bill's son, Tim, founded Draper Fisher Jurvetson in 1985. The fourth generation is now striking out on its own. Jesse, 27, is a producer and host of The Valley Girl Show; Adam, 26, is a cofounder of the firm Xpert Financial and CEO of Boost VC; Billy, 23, is founder of the startup Mobber.net and an employee at Facebook.
