- 구글 개발자 컨퍼런스(I/O) 티켓 30분도 안되 매진
27일 오전 구글의 I/O 개발자 컨퍼런스의 티켓이 작년에 비해 두 배나 오른 $900임에도 불구하고 30분이 채 안되 매진됐다. 2008년에 시작된 구글 I/O는 올 6월 27일부터 29일까지 3일 동안 샌프란시스코 모스콘센터에서 개최될 예정이다.
샌프란시스코 모스콘센터에 직접 가지 않아도 참여할 수 있는 방법이 있다. 전세계 각지에서 지역 개발자 커뮤니티의 리더나 대학에서 구성하는 감상파티(viewing parties)가 있을 예정이다. 또한 브라우저나 태블릿, 휴대폰으로도 실시간 중계를 볼 수 있으며 이후에도 온라인에서 동영상으로 접할 수 있다.

썸머 오브 코드(Summer of Code)는 구글에서 주최하는 전세계 대학생 대상의 오픈소스(open-source) 개발 프로그램이다. 참가한 학생들은 일정 급여를 받으며 그 분야의 멘토와 함께 프로젝트를 수행한다. 3달 동안의 이 프로그램에서 학생들은 소프트웨어 개발의 실제 세계를 경험해 볼 수 있으며 미래의 취직 기회도 엿볼 수 있다.
학생들은 3월 26일부터 4월 6일 19시(우리나라 7일 04시)까지 지원할 수 있다.
한국과 미국의 초기 스타트업에 투자하는 Strong Ventures는 썸머 오브 코드에 지원하는 한국 학생 프로그래머를 후원하고자 한다. Strong Ventures는 지원 과정부터 도울 예정이다. 관심이 있는 학생은 info@strongvc.com에 연락해보길 바란다.

ShoeDazzle은 재미교포 창업가인 Brian Lee와 미국의 유명 스타 Kim Kardashian이 공동 창업한 온라인 구두 쇼핑 사이트로, 개별 고객의 취향을 파악해 매달 그에 맞는 상품을 추천해준다. 최근에는 고객들의 요구에 따라 가방, 악세서리 등도 판매하고 있다. ShoeDazzle은 현재 1000만이 넘는 고객을 보유하고 있으며 작년 9월에 국내에서도 런칭했다.
ShoeDazzle의 설립자인 Brian Lee는 ShoeDazzle이외에도 OJ Simson의 유명 변호사Robert Schapiro와의 온라인 법률 서비스 legalzoom.com, 여배우 제시카 알바와의 유아용품 온라인몰 honest.com과 같이 유명인사들과 다양한 사업을 하고 있다.

그 중 2010년부터 계속된 폴 세글리아(Paul Ceglia)와의 법적 분쟁이 일단락될 것으로 보인다. 세글리아는 2003년 자신이 마크 주커버그에게 페이스북의 창업자금으로 $1000을 주고 지분의 50%를 갖기로 하는 계약을 맺었다고 주장했다. 하지만 그가 증거로 제시했던 고용 계약서와 이메일 기록이 위조된 것으로 드러났다. 현재 페이스북은 법원에 소송기각을 신청했다.
한편, 주커버그는 소송들로 인한 스트레스를 풀기 위해 중국과 일본을 방문하고 있지 않을까 추측을 한다. 이번 여행에는 중국계 미국인인 여자친구도 동행했다. 일각에서는 이번 중국 방문이 페이스북의 중국 서비스 시작하기 위해서가 아닌가 추측하고 있다. 주커버그는 일본 방문 중에 노다 요시히코 수상을 만나기도 했다.
