K Cube Ventures recently announced a $700,000 investment into mobile game developer 'A-33 Studio.'

With this investment A-33 Studio will focus on ramping up their mobile FPS game production and aim to be ready to release their first title by end of next year. The title is named 'Project S' for now, and is an ambitious plan to maximize online mobile FPS game experience by integrating a fully optimized user interface along with innovative controls, to overcome common issues users face while playing FPS games on mobile.

Like many of Korea’s top gaming startups, the founding team have come from a strong gaming heritage. For example, CEO Dong-sun Kim previously managed the development of one of Nexon's major FPS games, 'Counter Strike Online,' as well as being deeply involved with Nexon's PC and new mobile projects.

A representative from K Cube Ventures explained that they had been impressed with A-33 Studio's deep game development experience and ‘unparalleled capability in the FPS field,’ which they have gained from their work on 'Counter Strike Online' and 'Combat Arms.' Importantly for the company’s global expansion strategy, the team’s work also involved both domestic and international exposure to game development and roll-out.

According to a company spokesman, “it is to have very quick and precise controls to fully utilize mobile control capability. The new 'Squad Management' system will deliver a very unique style of real-time battles unlike other simple PvP system.

Dong-sun Kim, CEO of A-33 Studio said, "Unlike the massive FPS market in online PC games, the restricted user interface and controls on mobile make it hard to expand. 'Project S' aims to overcome these hurdles. I plan for ‘Project S’ to set a whole new standard of mobile FPS game.”

Ki-jun Kim, a Partner at K Cube Ventures commented that, "A-33 Studio has very specialized knowledge on this specific genre because they have been producing multiple FPS games since the beginning of this current gaming era. The Mobile FPS market now has huge growth potential and we predict that A-33 Studio will become a leader that revolutionizes this market and diversifies the mobile genre."
