That is the topic that will be discussed at the Korean LP’s/Funds investing in Silicon Valley Panel at beGLOBAL, September 13 in Palo Alto. Julie Kim (Daum Communications), Jung An Lee (NHN), In Sik Rhee (Rembrandt Venture Partners) and Young Chung (DAG Ventures) along with moderator Jay Eum (TransLink Capital) will be giving deep insights on how to pitch and on the art of managing a relationship with an investor.

Representing two of the big players in the South Korean internet industry, NHN and Daum respectively are Jung An Lee and Julie Kim. Jung An Lee is Head of Corporate Development at NHN which operates the Naver portal, the most popular Internet portal and search engine in South Korea. They also are behind the exponentially growing Line messaging app who’s gunning for the states. Besides M&As and strategic investments, Jung An Lee is also taking care of Naver's interaction with venture capitals, including investing in venture capital funds. Julie Kim works with strategic investment and business development at Daum Communications, the 2nd largest web portal service provider in South Korea in terms of daily visit. Her responsibilities include analyzing profitability and synergy effect of investment in Internet business, and following up after investment.

Talking from the investors’ point of view is the other three panel participants. In Sik Rhee, General Partner at Rembrant, has spent the past 20 years as an accomplished entrepreneur, advisor, and investor across a broad spectrum of technology-enabled markets, giving him a great authority on how the startup business works, having been on both sides of the table.

Young Chung is Managing Director at DAG Ventures, an investment firm dedicated to providing growth capital to companies led by world-class entrepreneurs and the best early stage venture capital partnerships, focusing primarily on consumer internet, advertising technology, mobile communications and SaaS companies. Chung was previously an Investment Banking Analyst at Goldman Sachs.

Jay Eum is Co-Founder & Managing Director of TransLink Capital where he is responsible for TransLink’s investments, as well as supporting TransLink’s portfolio companies with their customers and. Most recently, Jay was the head of Samsung Ventures America.
